America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14 Premieres Tonight! Check Out My Top 3 Predictions!

image Yup, it’s “America’s Next Top Model” season yet again, and after a brief interlude of giving the shorter girls a chance last fall (was I the only one that found it super blahhh?), cycle 14 takes things back to their 5′7″-and-up standards. But at least one vital aspect is bound to be different this time — new judge Andre Leon Talley, Vogue editor-at-large, is joining the judges’ table! I know what you’re thinking: are Andre and Miss J. going to have to compete to out-sass each other? Much to my dismay (and probably yours too), Miss J. is retiring his post on the panel for the time-being. But fear not — he’ll still be gracing us with his presence on the show, returning to a more coach-like position to help train the models rather than just sending them packing. So which of this cycle’s 13 contestants are destined to go the distance? You know I love sizing the girls up on the CW site and making first impression-based predictions, and while I haven’t quite mastered the art of snap judgments, I’m determined not to give up! Last time, my guesses certainly improved — two of them made it nearly to the end (it’s not my fault they didn’t have a Top 3 this time around!) and one of my picks even took the shorty title (yay Nicole!). Maybe this time I’ll hit the psychic jackpot and name all three! Visit the CW site to learn more about the models you’ll see on the show tonight, then read on to see my predictions for this season’s Top 3! Photo Source: CWtv.com

Clear Accessories That Are Nowhere Near Invisible!

image While you may opt to leave the lucite platform heels for the… errr, pole, less frowned-upon clear accessories are making a wave in the pool of upcoming spring trends, and they’re looking anything but cheap-o. Clear lucite and plastic, traditionally not the most luxe of jewelry-making materials, are sprouting up everywhere we look in the realms of sunglasses, watches and beyond, and I think the effect is totally refreshing! Think of clear pieces as 2010’s answer to white accessories, except without the constant worry of accidental barbecue sauce spills or inevitable grass stains. I love the way clear jewelry reflects the sun, whether in the form of baubles or bangles, and it’s a way to still get that “iced” look without spending thousands on actual bling. Of course, while I’d gladly take real diamonds any day, clear pieces have a more versatile and casual daytime spring look — and I dare you to find something it won’t match! Take a look at the slideshow for my favorite clear accessories for spring!

Getaway For a Good Night’s Sleep At The Benjamin Hotel in New York City

image New York City is probably best known as the city that never sleeps, but did you know you could probably get the best rest of your life here too? The Benjamin Hotel prides themselves in giving all their guests a good night’s sleep. The hotel is a restored classic 1927 building that may look old fashioned but the interior is most definitely modern. The rooms are equipped with custom Serta mattresses created exclusively for The Benjamin. To make the most out of your stay, get in touch with a Sleep Concierge who can help you with the best pillow from the menu such as a Satin Beauty pillow which will keep your hairstyle in place or the Lullaby pillow which has speakers where you can play your music to lull you to sleep. They’re so confident that you’ll be well rested that they offer refunds if you’re not satisfied. Central Park, MoMA, the Empire State Building, and Fifth Avenue shopping are all within walking distance. Nothing’s better than a long day of shopping and getting much deserved rest at night. Hot In The Hive: Smart Planet Mini Cupcake Maker

image Ever since Carrie and the gang from “Sex and the City” step foot into Magnolia Bakery for one of their cupcakes, the worldwide craze for the frosted sweet treats hasn’t died down since. While I’m busy budgeting for my designer shoe fund, bag fund, and oh yeah, bills, I can’t always indulge in a treat everyday. That’s why the Smart Planet Mini Cupcake Maker is so handy. This gadget makes 6 mini cupcakes in just 5 minutes with recipes included. If you think about it, it’s also quite health conscious since you’re eating a mini sized cupcake instead of a regular sized one (but there’s no saying that all 6 could disappear within minutes!). Of course, you can also make mini muffins, cornbread and other treats but cupcakes are definitely #1. Like they always say, when you want things done right, do it yourself. Now I just have to figure out how to automatically frost them.

Price: .95
Who Found It: facadeindreams was first to add the Smart Planet Mini Cupcake Maker to the Hive.

Stella’s Stellar Soirée

Stella McCartney’s morning show at the Opera the other day was an intense affair: she attracted father Paul McCartney, Thandie Newton, and Maria Shriver–and it felt like all business. Her W Hotels-sponsored after party in the usual cabaret on the Left Bank, on the other hand, felt like a more relaxed affair.

Guess the Camera-Shy Editor!

Jefferson, darling, we know you’re exhausted. The endless shows and parties are enough to put bags under the eyes of even the most youthful-looking chicster. But take heart: today is the last day!

One of These Things is Not Like the Other

Chic spotted an unexpected face in the front row at Chloé, among the likes of French ingenues Mélanie Laurent and Clémence Poésy. Anja, what are you doing down off that runway?

Life is But a Dream

Dizzy with joy over this spectacular weather, we are dreaming of gliding down the river today, and this upholstered boat is the chicest seat on la mer.

Sweet Symphony

While there are a million ways to customize your iPod, it’s harder to leave your creative mark on headphones, and so that’s why we appreciate the “Street Headphones” created by Brian Garret

Is Corinne Bailey Rae Marc’s New Vuitton Muse?

Louis Vuitton’s Fall show this afternoon may have hosted its fair share of the typical chicsters–Natalia Vodianova, Alexa Chung, Margherita Missoni–but Chic was surprised to see Corinne Bailey Rae nestled just à côté de LVMH honcho Antoine Arnault.
